Before you submit an item to us, please take a moment to read the following terms and conditions.

WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO KNOW THE FOLLOWING…

  • At the current time we are operating under our own strict Covid-secure guidelines.
    This means…
  • We will not take in items that we suspect may have been in an environment where there is a danger of infection from Covid 19. This includes but is not limited to households where there has been a suspected case within the last 14 days.
  • If you bring your item to us for repair you will not be able to wait with your item. To help us with social distancing we will ask you to leave and return later, once your item is ready for collection.
  • Please attend the event alone where possible and do not bring children.
  • YOU MUST OBSERVE STRICT 2M (6’7”) SOCIAL DISTANCING AT ALL TIMES.
  • Our experienced fixers are entitled to refuse to repair certain objects, and are not obliged to reassemble disassembled appliances that either cannot be repaired or have been deemed unecomomical to repair.
  • Any new parts or materials used in a repair will be charged for separately if necessary.
  • Visitors offering broken items for repair do so at their own risk. Neither the organisers of the Repair Café nor our experienced repairers are liable for any loss that may result from advice or instructions concerning repairs, for the loss of items handed over for repair, for consequential loss or for any other kind of loss resulting from work performed in the Repair Café.
  • Visitors to Repair Café are solely responsible for the tidy removal of broken objects that could not be repaired.
  • This is a free service. However a voluntary donation would be greatly appreciated to help cover the costs of providing the venue and other incidental costs.
  • Any items brought to us that are not collected by 4pm on the day of the event will be regarded as abandoned and will be disposed of as we see fit. Items delivered in advance or posted to us will only be returned in line with the agreement made with us at the time of delivery. All postage costs must be covered by the item’s owner.
  • Sheffield Repair Cafe is a live streamed event. Anyone taking part, either at the event or by sending an item in for repair is deemed to have agreed to appear on the stream as part of the show.
  • Any video or photos sent to us regarding an item may be used by us, without limitation and included as part of the live stream and recorded show. Anyone appearing in the videos or photographs will be deemed to have agreed to appear on the show.

 

Data Protection Policy

Repair Sheffield holds contact information data on individuals who have expressed an interest in being involved in events and communications regarding activities being organized or run by the group. This information will be stored on various platforms and systems for contacting members regarding the operation and administration of Repair Sheffield.

The information will be postal addresses, email addresses and telephone numbers of members and interested parties to allow communication between the group and interested individuals.

This policy applies to all electronic and paper versions of this information and the various storage mechanisms used to retain this information. This may be personal computer systems, cloud storage systems and online services such as sheffieldrepaircafe.callpress.net.

All members of Repair Sheffield may be responsible for processing this data and ensuring it is stored in the correct format on the correct media.

The main data risks are from viruses and malware that may affect the personal computer systems where this data is held, or online attack of the services used to store the data, such as sheffieldrepaircafe.callpress.net.

Key precautions to prevent data breach are anti-virus systems on all personal computers used to store data and using trusted providers for cloud services where data is held

Opting out of mails will be built into all communications from Repair Sheffield.

Data stored in the cloud is backed up by the relevant organizations internal mechanisms. All data stored on personally owned devices will be backed up using removable media such as external hard drives or USB memory sticks. Cloud backup may also be used to back up data.

Data is kept accurate by regular communication to interested parties, this may take the form of electronic newsletters or postal mailings to confirm with members that their details are up to date.

Data will be deleted upon request from an individual or after 5 years, unless otherwise requested by the individual whose data it is.

If an individual makes a request to see their data, this will be provided to them in electronic format within 5 working days. If the individual does not have access to electronic communication methods, then the request will be responded to by post within 10 working days.

Repair Sheffield will not disclose data to other organizations or parties without obtaining written consent from the individual concerned.

Any changes to data storage methods or locations of stored data will be communicated to members by electronic mail, in cases where the individual does not have access to electronic communication methods, this information will be communicated by post in 10 working days.

The key members of Repair Sheffield will be responsible for communicating any data breach to the ICO and Charities Commission as appropriate.
